Imagine a week where…
You wake to the sound of birds in the olive trees. There’s coffee, good bread, and nowhere else you need to be.
You spend the morning writing, reading, sketching - whatever creative project you’ve been putting off for months. At lunchtime, you gather round the table. In the afternoon, you might walk into the Sabine hills, find a reading nook in the garden, or settle into your room and carry on working, undisturbed.
No shopping, no sightseeing, no cooking - unless you want to. Just you and your project.
In the evening, the fire is lit, there’s a glass of wine, home-cooked Italian food, and time to talk. And tomorrow, you can do it all again.
We’re opening the house in the quieter months, from October to May, to small groups of friends, writers, and creative companions who want a week away to get on with their own projects.
This isn’t a course or a scheduled retreat. There are no workshops, and no expectation to share your work. You bring your project, your companions, and whatever rhythm suits you.
The house is yours for the week.
How your week could work
We can arrange your stay in different ways, depending on how much you want to do for yourselves.
The house, all to yourselves
Rent Casa Poggio as a private house, with four bedrooms and four desks. You can cook together, eat out locally, and organise your days as you please.
You will need to hire a car.
House rental: £1600 per week: includes all heating costs & firewood (£400pp between 4).
The house, with food taken care of
Arrive to find the fridge and larder stocked with good local ingredients, breakfast provisions, and everything you need for simple lunches and suppers. No supermarket trip or meal planning required - just help yourselves and enjoy the pleasure of eating well. Our housekeeper, Paola, will cook for you in-house on three evenings a week, leaving plentiful leftovers for the next day. On the final night, you eat out at a local restaurant a short walk away.
House rental plus food for 4: £2800 per week, depending on your group and requirements. Includes all heating costs & firewood (£700pp between 4).
No need to hire a car: direct train from Fiumicino airport to Poggio Mirteto, 1.5hrs. Airport taxi transfer is around €160. Poggio Mirteto - with its cafes, restaurants, shops, and Friday market - is a half hour walk. You need to be fit.
Fewer people & less help?
Get in touch to discuss what you need. It’s a wonderful spot for just one person.
Larger group with tutor?
Casa Poggio sleeps 8 in four bedrooms (two double, two twin), with 3 bathrooms. Next door is an Agriturismo, La Casa Nettarina, run by our house managers, Beatrice & Mario, with two double rooms. This could be used for overspill, or your tutor’s lair.
